My friend and I had breakfast yesterday at the Grand Lux Cafe and had a great experience from start to finish! My friend who is totally blind called the night before to get a heads up as to what to expect when she arrived. The assistant general manager offered that she come in a few minutes before they officially opened so he could orient her to the space. By the time I arrived, she already had been taken on a tour of the restaurant, received a braille/large print menu and had placed her order. Unfortunately she doesn't read braille, but the server, Dana, was great and reviewed what was available with her. Being legally blind myself, I did struggle with their large print menu because the braille had been embossed on top of the print, but Dana was very helpful and all worked out--I was just happy to see they had the menu in an alternative format! We really enjoyed our time at Grand Lux and appreciated how friendly, attentive and accommodating the staff were--and the food was delicious! We'll definitely be going back!
